A fond welcome to previous guests and all new guests to Mynd House.

A Victorian Christmas (Return of the Victorian Farm Lion TV Crew) - June 2009

Due to the popularity of the Victorian Farm series shown in January/February earlier this year on BBC2, Lion TV have returned to film a smaller series of 3 programmes set around Christmas during the Victorian times. We believe that the programmes are to be shown around Christmas this year. It has been such a pleasure for us to have the TV crew back to stay with us again and we have ourselves been involved in a couple of the scenes filmed up at Acton Scott working farm museum. We have a copy of the book - Victorian Farm - which accompanied the first series and an album of some photos taken during filming and of some of the crew here at Mynd House.

Julia Bradbury - Macmillan 4x4 Challenge - 6th-8th March 2009

We had the pleasure of hosting Julia, her sister and 2 co-drivers here at Mynd House on the night before the start of the 4x4 Challenge. The Mac 4x4 is a long-distance four-wheel drive navigational endurance event in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support starting in the the West Midlands and covering up to 1000 miles in less than three days. Julia is best known as co-host on BBC1's Watchdog programme and presenter of the BBC4 series "Wainwright Walks". We wish both teams good luck in the challenge and if you wish to sponsor Julia or Gina please visit http://www.justgiving.com/mac4x4juliabradbury

Victorian Farm - BBC2 Lion Tv Production

Over the spring/summer period last year (2008) we hosted the film crew of the BBC 2 series " Victorian Farm". Based at Acton Scott, 3 historians/archaeologists (Alex Langlands, Peter Ginn and Ruth Goodman) have been recreating life on a Victorian Farm spending a year using only tools and techniques from the Victorian Period. The film crew, from Lion Television, stayed with us once a month to catch up with the historians up at Acton Scott. The first programme was aired on BBC2 on 9th January 2009. A gallery of photos taken throughout the year can be seen at http://www.alexlanglands.com/gallery.asp. You will find the "Victorian Farm" book based on the series in our lounge that you can read at your leisure along with photographs taken during filming and at Mynd House. In the photo on the right are: Felicia Rubin (Co-Ordinator), Chris Vile (Photographer), Stuart Elliot (Producer & Director), David Upshal (Executive Producer), Naomi Benson and Clare.

Green Tourism Business Scheme

We have recently been awarded Silver level with the GBTS, demonstrating our commitment to Green Tourism - in reduction of our energy consumption and waste, use of local produce and support of local businesses and provision of maps and guide books, for walking and cycling, to encourage guests to make the most of nature and all that the Shropshire Hills have to offer.

Mynd House Monster Challenge

We have developed, with assistance from Shropshire Tourism, a Challenge walk from Mynd House of around 20 miles - a circular walk encompassing most of the Stretton Hills and surrounding landscape. If you don't feel up to the full challenge we also have a couple of short cuts resulting in the Mini-Monster challenge at approx 13 miles. Take part in the Monster Challenge in 2009 and have a chance of winning 2 nights accommodation at Mynd House. See Special Offers page for details.

Quality At Heart - Silver Servicemark

We are pleased to announce that we have been awarded the Silver Level Servicemark Award.
The Servicemark award is a recognition of our high standards of service and shows our commitment to Customer Service and that we always strive to improve.

Savour the Flavour....

Mini Bar Fridges are now in place in all rooms (execpt the single Burway room) at Mynd House as part of the Heart of England Fine Food "Savour the Flavour" scheme. We have placed a small hamper in the single room with a selection of the non-chilled products. As part of the scheme we have introduced the honesty bar fridges stocked with Local Food and Drink products from around the region (Shropshire, Herefordshire and Staffordshire) providing a real Heart of England experience! To coincide with our involvement in the Green Tourism Business Scheme we aim to source produce within a radius of 40 miles from Mynd House.

Mynd House goes Wireless

You can now have a relaxing break and keep in touch with your e-mails! We now have Wireless Broadband Internet access available at Mynd House, with the exception of one room (Caradoc) the wireless range extends to all other rooms of the house.

Many thanks for visiting us. We try to keep the news section updated as regularly as possible, and will inform you of special offers throughout the year.
