Mynd House
News From Mynd House

A fond welcome to previous guests and all new guests to Mynd House.

After a very busy year we decided to take some "time out" in January which, despite a few days away for our own rest & relaxation, was mainly spent redecorating the hallways and Ashbracken room! We are very pleased with the result and a new fresh look to provide an even warmer welcome on arrival than before!

Quality At Heart - Silver Servicemark

We are pleased to announce that we have been awarded the Silver Level Servicemark Award. The Servicemark award is a recognition of our high standards of service and shows our commitment to Customer Service and that we always strive to improve.

Green Tourism Business Scheme....

We are involved in a pilot scheme running within Shropshire working towards assessment of our business, looking at various "green" aspects of business, from our energy efficiency, use of local produce and promotion of activities to reduce all our carbon emissions. Being in such a beautiful area as the South Shropshire hills, and also within an area designated as and Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, we are ideally located to give your car a holiday as well yourself! There is a wide range of outdoor pursuits available, from walking to gliding, cycling and paragliding. We have numerous walks direct from our door and with great eateries in the village, or with a small and very healthy walk into Church Stretton, there's plenty of choice for your Evening Meals.

Savour the Flavour....

Mini Bar Fridges are now in place in all rooms (execpt the single Burway room) at Mynd House as part of the Heart of England Fine Food "Savour the Flavour" scheme. We have placed a small hamper in the single room with a selection of the non-chilled products. As part of the scheme we have introduced the honesty bar fridges stocked with Local Food and Drink products from around the region (Shropshire, Herefordshire and Staffordshire) providing a real Heart of England experience! To coincide with our involvement in the Green Tourism Business Scheme we aim to source produce within a radius of 40 miles from Mynd House.

Mynd House Monster Challenge

We are currently working with Shropshire Tourism to develop a Challenge walk from Mynd House, likely to be around 18 miles - a circular walk encompassing most of the hills and surrounding landscape. If you don't feel up to the full challenge we're also working on a Mini-Monster challenge at 9 miles.

Mynd House goes Wireless

You can now have a relaxing break and keep in touch with your e-mails! We now have Wireless Broadband Internet access available at Mynd House, with the exception of one room (Caradoc) the wireless range extends to all other rooms of the house.

Walkers are welcome

Not only do we welcome walkers to Mynd House, by providing guided walks books and maps we also have a drying room to dry your clothes incase the weather isn't kind to you when you are here.

Church Stretton has been officially launched as a Walkers are Welcome Town by the national chairman of the Ramblers' Association. To earn the status, the town has to meet six conditions, including keeping the footpaths in good repair, providing facilities for walkers and encouraging and promoting the use of public transport.

Some older "news"...

We now provide facilities for checking room availability and for making room bookings on-line. To access these facilities, see our House & Rooms pages to check availability of specific rooms, or click here to check availability of all rooms at Mynd House. We do apply a good discount and competitive prices for Group bookings. Please call us to discuss.

Country Walking Magazine
We had the pleasure of hosting 3 visitors from the Country Walking magazine, who have been in the area researching some local walking routes and places of interest. The walks and article is published in the June 2007 issue of the magazine.

Many thanks for visiting us. We try to keep the news section updated as regularly as possible, and will inform you of special offers throughout the year.
